Baba Payam Ud Din Reshi
Baba reshi is located in the Baramullah district. It is the beautiful shrine of Sufi Saint Baba Payam Uddin Reshi. It is a three-storey monument situated at an altitude of about 7000 feet. This is a popular tourist and pilgrim destination.
The ‘langar’ (free meals are eaten together) is hygienically prepared and tasty. Baba Reshi’s shrine is inside a minaret with beautiful carvings. The “Noor Khwan” is the place where his grave rests.
It is covered with a satin cloth having Quran embroidery and is made of glass. Women have to cover their heads as part of the shrine’s discipline. So, do take the right turn the way to Gulmarg to this divine place. Chances are you may be invited over for a salted Kashmiri tea and some snacks by the welcoming locals!
Baba Payam Uddin is said to have given all his belongings to serve common people. He lived at this location that later became his tomb site. People from around the world come up to seek his blessings and fill their minds with positivity the shrine reflects, annually during his ‘Urs’ (birth anniversary).
